Here’s a simple recipe for making oatmeal on the stovetop:

Remove the oatmeal from the heat and let it sit for 1-2 minutes to cool and thicken.
Add any desired sweeteners (such as honey or maple syrup) and toppings (such as sliced banana, chopped nuts, or chia seeds).
